The new exhibition due to open at Bury Museum on 21 August is all about the towns industrial past and the important role it played in nineteenth century international trade.

As new manufacturing processes developed with the industrial revolution, Bury took a lead in producing cheaper goods more efficiently which they exported all over the world.

At the forefront of this was the bleaching, dyeing and cotton printing industry which spawned 37 bleachworks in the nineteenth century, key among them being the Bealey’s works in Radcliffe.
